Welcome to 2021 everyone! Are you enjoying the latest trend in fitness, High Intensity Training?! Ok it's been a long time since I wrote 'Hot Yoga or take the dog for a much needed walk'. At that time there was only myself and one other exercise Youtube sensation who was calling this guy, Bikram Choudary, a potential abuser. It's been a while since his studio's value went back into the hands of tireless owners but the idea that someone needs to be mean to us to achieve results seems to have become a little ingrained. Before hot yoga became an addictive sensation world wide, my good friend and I did modern dance classes at Input Fitness in Frankston. We laughed a lot at the instructors gyrating hips and our lack of ability to always keep upright at the end as he sped up, leaving the all female class looking around to see where we ended up on the dance floor compared to everyone else. After we had a long coffee, as long as parenting allowed, and left feeling happier than we arrived. Fast forward to 2021 and New Year's resolutions are already the talk of science media. This blog was inspired by the ABC News reporter Belinda Smith and her article "Why you might feel sad or anxious after intense exercise, and how you can minimise it', LOVED IT Belinda! It did outline the benefits of exercise but also the phenomena of emotions both during and after exercise. This sense of "body awareness" can elicit strong emotional experiences to happenings you may not have been paying much attention to, Dr Pascoe says. This is my main concern..If you have unresolved issues of trauma especially regarding abuse within workplaces or relationships, please consider carefully your choice of class. Have a read of this ABC article as it has some really great science behind it especially the point about deciding if you really want someone yelling at you during your workout.
I spent 10 years in the military and personally I'm not into being screamed at..even in the navy it wasn't considered necessary at all. They found people were more motivated by reward such as promotion or an early mark then being screamed at and belittled: positive rewards. I'm currently enjoying high intensity classes locally with a lovely and very chilled fitness instructor at Stepz Fitness. It's high intensity but I always leave feeling loved and accomplished and with a mind full of cool dance tunes. If you are experiencing unresolved feelings holding you back or getting in the way of your happy please consider hypnosis as a way of moving forward. If you are already seeing other health professionals know that I'm happy to work in conjunction with any other treatment. Medical professionals are often very happy their client is taking all avenues to feel more positive and productive. Please like and share this blog to help others.

Very interesting! Definitely don’t want / need anyone screaming at me during exercise. Find it de-motivating.
